Modern Job

this game will leave a horrible taste in your mouth, as if you had participated in something immoral and unhealthy

you play as the God Hand, and you manipulate the world in various ways to hurt Mr Poleman, an innocent. you zap him with lightning, shit on him, piss on him, cut him apart, among many other things. 

the story of the game is about how Mr Poleman copes with this torture, in a variation on the biblical story of Job. Mr Poleman, unlike Job, has no faith to be tested - so what IS the torture testing? my answers to this question draw in part on my experience of mental illness (CW for depictions of self harm and suicide)

the music and the visuals are aimed at creating the sense of a consciousness slowly being recombined and shattered by extreme pain. the music is increasingly distorted classical music, from Bach to Mahler to Schnittke, and the visuals are collages of everything i saw
